By pop I mean soda pop. It's what we call it in the Midwest, not soda. But after spending eight weeks in a country that refers to pop as soda, I catch myself.
On Janary 2 I'm done with soda. I'm determined to stick to this and I'm hoping this blog will aid me. I think that documenting this will help and remind me every day of my goal.
I was a sodaholic when I was a teenager. I can't even tell you how much soda I went through in a week! My mom stopped buying it, which, now that I think about it, may have led to my weightloss, but I can't quite remember if they incidents coincided.
I had stopped drinking soda for years, even after my weight loss surgery. At most I would have a can at lunch on weekends only or if I went out to dinner. But in the last year and a half I've started drinking it daily. At least one 20 ounce bottle a day. And if I don't bring my lunch to work, it included a 12 ounce can.
You're probably wondering what is the big deal.
Well, the big deal is that I don't drink diet soda. Not a fan of the stuff. The only diet type soda I drink is Pepsi One. And I only drink that when I bring my lunch to work. If I have a choice of soda, it's sugared soda, never diet. Sounds weird if I bring a can of diet soda and drink it at work.
My downfall is that I drink sugared soda, specifically Pepsi. LOVE the stuff. That's where the problem comes in.
See I don't like coffee (not even the smell of it... blech!) and I'm not a big tea drinker either. So I used to drink Pepsi to give me a boost in the morning, just like people who drink coffee. It's the only way I could and can think of to get caffeine considering I don't like coffee.
